North Carolina Signs Three More

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina, November 15. THE University of North Carolina swimming and diving program announced Tuesday night the signing of three additional swimmers to National Letters of Intent. William Tyler Harris signed to join the men's team beginning in August 2007 while Rebecca Kane and Katura Harvey will join the women's squad. Frank Comfort, Tar Heel head coach, made the announcements Tuesday.

Harris joins five other Tar Heel men who returned their letters of intent on Monday — a group including Andrew Brake, Robert Grimmett-Norris, Joe Kinderwater, Joshua Hafkin and Tommy Wyher.

Harris is a native of Richmond, Va., where he attends The Steward School. He swims for coach Ted Sallade at Poseidon Swimming. One of UNC's most versatile recruits, his career best times are 1:54.25 in the 200-yard IM, 3:57.86 in the 400-yard IM, 58.93 in the 100-yard breaststroke, 2:04.77 in the 200-yard breaststroke, 4:38.10 in the 500-yard free, 9:27.13 in the 1000-yard free and 15:46.43 in the 1650-yard free.

Rebecca Kane swims for coach Louis Petrozziello at the Jersey Gators. She is from Toms River, N.J. and attends Monsignor Donovan High School. She has won five N.J. state titles, three in the 50 free and two in the 100 free and is also a senior national qualifer. A six-time All-America, she is the state high school record holder in both freestyle sprint events. Her career bests for the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles are 23.21, 50.77 and 1:51.47.

Katura Harvey is a native of Rockville, Md. and attends Richard Montgomery High School.
