Atlantic 10 Announces Weekly Awards

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, November 7. THE Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly athlete of the week awards on Monday. St. Bonaventure's Roman Margulis and Richmond's Lauren Beaudreau earned performer of the week accolades, while St. Bonaventure's Mariusz Michalik and La Salle's Shannon Duval picked up rookie of the week laurels.

Margulis captured gold in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:56.44 on Nov. 4 in St. Bonaventure's dual meet with Cleveland State. He then placed second in the 200-yard butterfly (1:55.68) and swam a leg of the winning 400-yard freestyle relay (3:14.86)…the Bonnies dropped a 13-95 decision.

Competing in a double-dual meet versus nationally-ranked North Carolina and Minnesota in Chapel Hill, Beaudreau won the 400-yard IM in an NCAA B-cut qualifying time of 4:20.33, She then marked the third-fastest time in UR history, and also placed first in the 200-yard IM (2:04.18) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.15). She added a third-place showing in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.96), and swam a leg of the 400-yard medley (3:54.33) and 800-yard freestyle (7:47.10) relays.

Competing in St. Bonaventure's dual meet with Cleveland State on Nov. 4, Michalik won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:06.13, and added a second-place finish in the 200-yard IM (1:57.08).

Duval set a school record for the second time in as many meets on Nov. 3 in La Salle's 157-100 win over C.W. Post, recording a time of 1:07.13 in the 100-yard breaststroke. She also eclipsed the previous mark of 1:07.24, set by Alison Heider in 1995, then captured gold in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.47) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:19.61) events. She also swam a leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay (4:00.20).
