More Than 120 National Records Fall at Mexican Masters National Championships

CANCUN, Mexico, November 1. OVER this past weekend, the Mexican Federation of Swimming completed its Masters National Championships.

During the meet, more than 120 national meter records fell with Casablanca claiming the combined team title with 2,255.30 points.

No one dominated an age group like Enrique Fernandez Rabell. In the men's 65-69 division, Rabell snapped five national records in the 50 back (38.74), 100 back (1:23.51), 200 back (2:59.99), 100 breast (1:32.89) and the 200 IM (3:10.30).

On the women's side, five swimmers broke a quartet of national records within their age group. In the 18-24 group, Ana Rodal broke the 800 free (10:10.72), 200 breast (2:56.03), 200 fly (2:32.11) and 400 IM (5:31.02) national records. Elvira Hawley took down the 100 free (1:05.00), 200 free (2:18.85), 400 free (5:02.98) and 800 free (10:11.18) national standards in the 35-39 age group.

In the 40-44 age group, Dulce Rojas eclipsed the 400 free (5:09.00), 50 back (34.73), 100 back (1:14.32) and 200 back (2:36.89) standards, while Laura Vaca surpassed the 50 free (31.03), 200 breast (3:11.77), 100 fly (1:16.68) and 200 fly (2:47.95) 50-54 records.

Edna De Saracho provided the most fireworks in the 65-69 age group by lowering the 50 back (52.80), 100 back (1:45.74), 200 IM (3:46.32) and 400 IM (8:26.05) national records.
