Big 12 Names Weekly Award Winners

IRVING, Texas, October 26. THE Big 12 Conference announced its Swimmers and Divers of the Week for meets from Oct. 12-22. Israel Duran (Texas A&M) was awarded Swimmer of the Week for men while fellow teammate, Eric Sehn was awarded Diver of the Week. For women, Lauren Bailey (Nebraska) won Swimmer of the Week and Mary Yarrison (Texas) Diver of the Week. The student-athletes were chosen by vote of the league's head swimming and diving coaches.

Duran competed in six relays at the Big 12 Relays, earning four second place finishes, a third and fourth place finish. His time for the 3 x 100 butterfly was 50.43 and he swam the second leg in the relay. In the 200 medley, Duran swam 23.97 as the lead off swimmer. He also led off in the 400 medley with a 52.02. He raced second leg for the 4 x 100 IM relay (53.26) and the 200 x 400 x 200 IM relay (4:11.19). In the 4 x 200 freestyle relay, he swam anchor with a 1:45.96 time. At Missouri, Duran finished first in four events (one relay and three individual races). In the 200 butterfly he carded a time of 1:50.66 and 50.67 in the 100 butterfly. His 1:52.45 time in the 200 backstroke and 23.97 (lead off) in the 200 medley earned him the other two first place finishes.

Sehn placed second in both the 1 and 3-meter dive at the Big 12 Relays. He earned 244.50 points for his 1-meter dives and 261.60 points for his 3-meter. Against Missouri Sehn placed first in both of his events with 274.50 points for the 1-meter and 264.90 for the 3-meter.

Bailey won the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:48.46, which was an NCAA Provisional-qualifying time.

Yarrison carded two first-place finishes against Nebraska with 278.25 points for the 1-meter dive and a 322.65 for the 3-meter dive.
