Bonaire EcoSwim to Take Place Saturday

BONAIRE, Netherlands Antilles, October 18. THE sixth annual Bonaire EcoSwim will take place this Saturday at the Dutch Caribbean Island of Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles. The island is located 50 miles north of Venezuela, 30 miles from Curacao and outside of the hurricane belt. Open water swimmers will begin competing in 10K, 5K and metric mile races at 8 a.m.

With swimmers representing 14 different states in the U.S., and several countries this year’s swim will have its largest field ever.

2006 United States Masters Coach of the Year Sue Welker along with her Naperville (Ill.) Waves Swim Team will be swimming in this event. Bob Bruce, USMS coaches’ committee chair and former coach of the year, will also swim while leading a contingent from Oregon.
