Nottingham Pool Launches Swimfit Program

NOTTINGHAM, England, September 24. BEECHDALE Leisure Center will launch the Amateur Swimming Association’s Swimfit program in partnership with Speedo on Monday. The center will install Swimfit units on deck that will provide swimmers with information about swimming programs and advice on stroke technique.

The center will add the Swimfit program to its larger exercise routine. Members of the center’s flexible fitness program will also receive a discounted Swimfit account.

“It’s great that Nottingham City Council have decided to run Swimfit at the Beechdale Leisure Center,” Double Commonwealth Champion Sarah Price said. “The Council has enjoyed success at the Clifton site, and as more people take to the pool in Beechdale they will also reap the benefits of the program. Swimfit is a great alternative to lane swimming. The programs allow you to vary your workout, and reach targets that you have set yourself.”

Mick Burn, Swimming Manager of Beechdale Leisure Center, recognizes the importance of Swimfit for his center.

“A workable program that is encouraging people to get fit but away from the gym has been a long time coming,” Burn said. “Many people find the gym intimidating and so will not use the facilities. Swimfit gives more people the chance to exercise more often. It is also encouraging people over 50 to exercise without feeling out of place.”
