LEWISBURG, Pennsylvania, September 8. ALEX Braunfeld, former head coach of the Dynamo Swim Club in Atlanta, Ga., will join the Bucknell swimming and diving staff as an assistant coach for the 2006-07 season, Bison head coach Dan Schinnerer announced on Friday.

"We are honored and excited that Alex is joining our program," Schinnerer said. "He brings to our team both tremendous knowledge and a passion for the sport of swimming. His experiences at the highest levels of swimming will be a great asset as we work towards returning the Bucknell swimming and diving team to a position of national prominence."

As the head coach for the Dynamo Swim Club from 1997-2005, Braunfeld guided five swimmers to the USA Swimming National Junior team and two others to slots on the USA Swimming Pan American team and the USA Swimming Goodwill squad. Wright State achieved top-five status at the Division II NCAA Championships in each year that Braunfeld was involved with the program.

Braunfeld graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1973 and was a letterman for the Panthers' swimming team.
