Industry News: Australian Superstars Libby Lenton and Leisel Jones Star in First Speedo Make Waves Video Podcast

Speedo, the world’s leading swimwear brand, today reveals the third stage of the Speedo Make Waves Podcast Series by introducing the first video into the increasingly popular series. This is Speedo’s first podcast double act, featuring Australian team mates Liesel Jones and Libby Lenton. "Two of a Kind", the first of a three-part miniseries on the world’s top two female swimmers, is available at www.speedo.com/podcasts or iTunes.

In episode 1, Libby and Leisel are out to set the record straight. They are often mistaken for one another, even in the swim world. Libby and Leisel talk informally about their differences and similarities, having a bit of fun along the way. It was filmed during a Speedo photo shoot in Barcelona following the 2006 Mare Nostrum. Leisel was named the top athlete at the event, and both athletes dominated in their respective races throughout the three city competition.

Episode 2 is a feature profile on Leisel and will be available to download in the middle of August. Episode 3 profiles Libby and will appear at the beginning of September. All three episodes, as well as a comments section and further information on the Speedo Make Waves Podcast series (including the first podcast featuring Michael Phelps and the second show featuring Amanda Beard) can be found at www.speedo.com/podcasts as well as key podcast websites, including www.iTunes.com , www.Podcastalley.com , www.Podscope.com , www.vodcast.tv and www.Podzinger.com.

The Speedo Make Waves Podcast series is the swim industry’s first, with biweekly audio podcasts and special edition video podcasts giving swim fans an insight into the world of swimming through the insight of the world’s top swimmers. The Speedo Swim News follows the interview section with updates from around the world of swimming, including reviews of key competitions and previews of upcoming key international events.

Michael Phelps led the way, with his interview being the focus of the first show. Industry leading podcaster Neville Hobson (www.nevillehobson.com) conducted the interview with Michael and produced the 11-minute podcast. Amanda Beard, recently voted "The World’s Sexiest Athlete" by FHM in the US, talked about her swim career and her out of the pool life in the second show, with five time World Champion James Hickman reviewing European competitions leading up to the European Championships. The first two shows have already been already passed the 10,000 download mark, with a strong fan base building in the swim community.

Future audio podcasts are scheduled to include key swimmers from Budapest at the European Championships, top medal hopefuls from the Pan Pacs in Vancouver and a conversation with some of Australia’s top up and coming swimmers. On the video side, Australia’s Michael Klim and England’s Mark Foster have already completed a three part video podcast from Cambridge, England, and that show will be aired in the coming months. Grant Hackett and Michael Phelps are also in line to join the Speedo Make Waves series with their first video podcasts.
