Thorpe Named Young Australian of the Year

Sydney, Australia – Ian Thorpe was named Young Australian of the Year on Thursday. The 17-year-old Thorpe, who set four world records in four days at last year’s Pan Pacific Championships, also received the award in recognition of his contribution to fund-raising for children’s cancer research.
