Meet Records Fall For New Jersey High Schools

NEW JERSEY, March 31. WITH meet records being broken all over the pool at the New Jersey State Championships, it was a junior from Monsignor Donovan that came away with Swimmer of the Meet honors. Rebecca Kane posted the most impressive swims from the weekend of March 3rd. Her meet record in the 50 free of 23.21 bettered her own mark from previous swims and she added a stellar 50.80 in the 100 free for good measure.

However, she wasn't the only one notching fast times. Lauren English, a junior, also set a new meet record. For English, it arrived in the 100 back with a 54.97 performance. The other meet record went to double event winner Nina Rossi, a Princeton senior, in the 100 fly with her 56.05.

The girls team champions of the year were Cherry Hill West for Public A, Scotch Plains-Fanwood for Public B, Mount Saint Mary for Non-public A, and Villa Walsh Academy for Non-public B.

On the men's side of things it was Brian Wilson, a Pingry junior, and Jay Park, junior, who stood out. Wilson won the 200 IM as well as the 100 fly in 1:51.40 and 49.81. Park took the state crown in the 50 free, 21.02, and the 100 free, 46.80.
