Southern Methodist Women Dominate C-USA

HOUSTON, Texas. February, 23. THE Mustangs are off and it is not likely they will be caught. After day one of their conference championships they already have two relay titles under their belt.

In the 200 medley relay the team of Roxane Akradi, Tamara Sambrailo, Petra Klosova, and Laura Pomeroy teamed up for a 1:40.92 effort and a new meet record by nearly four seconds. The next closest team was the host University of Houston with a 1:44.

The 800 free relay was much of the same with Candace Blackman, Jennifer Blackman, Katie Roberts, and Celina Lemmen touching in at a 7:10.93, another meet record, this one by 15 seconds. Rice was second at 7:24.62.

For the men, the meet was about the same. They took the 800 free relay in meet record fashion too. JD White, Justin Smith, Shane Milu, and Ian Clark hit the wall with a 6:38.27. In the 200 medley Clark, Alex Hetland, Luka Vrtovec, and Per Nylin touched in at 1:27.64, and you guessed it, another meet record.

SMU women lead the meet with 80 points, Rice is second with 66. The men, however, are second with 97 points to East Carolina University's 122 from diving.
