Richmond’s Lauren Beaudreau Earns Two Weekly A-10 Honors

RICHMOND, Va. February, 7. FRESHMAN Lauren Beaudreau picked up her fourth Rookie of the Week honor as well as her first Performer of the Week award from the Atlantic 10 Conference, officials announced Monday. Beaudreau, a native of Lafayette, Calif., logged a total of three event wins, helping the Spiders top Navy, 167-130, Saturday, Feb. 4 in Richmond, Va.

Beaudreau, along with sophomore Anastasia Lau and freshmen CJ Pisano and Brie McDowell, turned in a 1:48.43 in the 200 medley relay to earn the top spot. Beaudreau led off the relay with a 50 back split of 27.82, which ranks a season-best for the Spiders.

The freshman later earned wins in the 100 breast and 200 back, while earning a top time in the 200 IM. Her 1:04.77 in the 100 breast ranked as the third-fastest ever at Richmond, just three-tenths off Calla DeRuosi’s mark of 1:04.45 set in 2004. Her 200 back mark of 2:05.54, which she recorded by swimming the event for the first time this season, moved her into ninth-place all-time for the Spiders. Beaudreau ended the day by turning in a 2:05.15 in the 200 IM as an exhibition swimmer. Her time was the third-fastest ever at Richmond and is tops in the A-10.

Richmond is in the midst of preparation for a run at its fifth-straight Atlantic 10 Championship title. The league meet, held in Buffalo, N.Y., from Feb. 15-18, will mark the culmination of the Spiders’ regular season in 2005-06.
