Utah’s Amber Walter Garners MWC Award

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. January, 26. UNIVERSITY of Utah junior Amber Walter was named Mountain West Conference Swimmer of the Week after her performance against Colorado State on Jan. 21., her second weekly honor of the year and her career.

A Kalispell, Mont. native, Walter posted two individual and one relay first-place finish to help the Utes beat the Rams 158-127. The junior took top honors in the 100 free with a time of 52.99 seconds. Walter finished the 100 breast in 1 minute, 04.66 seconds, for the win. She was also a member of the winning 400 medley relay team that finished in 3 minutes, 54.34 seconds. Walter holds the top times in the MWC in the 50 free, 100 free and the 100 breast.

Walter and the rest of the Utes are back in action when they travel to Laramie, Wyo., to take on the Cowboys on Friday, Jan. 27 at 5 p.m.
