Kukors Helps King Aquatics to National Age-Group Record in 200 Medley Relay

FEDERAL WAY, Wash., January 23. LED by Ariana Kukors, the King Aquatics 15-and-16-year-old 200-yard medley relay broke a national-age group record over the weekend at the Washington Open. The quartet of Kukors, Emilee Jennings, Lindsey Marchand and Leona Jennings registered a time of 1:44.19 to narrowly better the 2003 record of 1:44.22, held by Tualatin Hills.

Kukors led off with a backstroke leg of 25.87 and Emilee Jennings delivered a split of 28.85 for the breaststroke. Marchand then came through with a fly split of 25.57 and Leona Jennings brought the squad home with a freestyle effort of 23.90. Kukors also delivered stellar times in a handful of individual events, as she took home victories in the 400 individual medley (4:07.24), 100 backstroke (54.67), 200 backstroke (1:58.11) and 200 butterfly (2:01.49).

A California-Berkeley recruit, Nathan Adrian was spectacular on the male side, evident in wins in the 50 free (20.61), 100 free (44.30), 200 free (1:37.25) and 100 butterfly (48.90). Meanwhile, Megan Jendrick, the 2000 Olympic champ in the 100 breast, won that discipline in 1:00.70 and posted a prelim clocking of 2:11.77 in the 200 breast.
