Illinois Girls Compete at High School Championships

EVANSTON, Illinois, November 25. LAST weekend, another state finished up its swimming season as the high schoolers from Illinois put up a good show. Starting out the meet was senior Kelly McNichols' pool and state record of 1:47.17 in the 200 free. The Naperville Central star also won the 500 free with a 4:50.16.

Another impressive swim came from Ashley Wanland in the 100 breast, as she broke the state and pool record with a 1:02.00 in the preliminary heats. She clocked 1:02.44 in the final.

The 100 back mark was broken by Melissa Marik with a 54.97 in prelims. She later won the final. Marik also won the 100 fly in 55.16. The last double winner of the meet was Emily Dominski in the 50 and 100 free, splashing in at 23.04 and 50.27. In the 200 IM, Amy Prestinario beat the field with a 2:03.02.

Naperville Central also broke the 200 medley relay state mark with a 1:45.24.
