Pair of Richmond Spiders Honored by Atlantic 10 Conference

RICHMOND, Virginia, November 1. JESSICA Witt and Lauren Beaudreau, in their sophomore and freshman years at the University of Richmond, were honored by the Atlantic 10 Conference for their efforts over the weekend. The duo excelled during the Spiders’ 173-122 defeat to North Carolina in a nonconference matchup.

Witt posted a season-best time of 4:57.35 in the 500-yard freestyle and was named Atlantic 10 Female Performer of the Week. Meanwhile, Beaudreau touched the wall first in a trio of events for Richmond. Aside from prevailing in the 100 backstroke (58.82), she posted a season-best mark of 2:19.86 in the 200 breast. Her outing also included a triumph in the 200 individual medley (2:05.52).

Richmond will not be in action this weekend, but will return to the pool from November 17-19 at the Terrapin Invitational, held on the campus of the University of Maryland. Last year, the Spiders took second place in the team standings at the Terrapin meet.
