Wisconsin’s Siow Claims Big Ten Swimmer of the Week Accolades

MADISON, Wisconsin, October 25. ONLY a freshman, Yi Ting Siow wasted little time making her mark on the Wisconsin program, thanks to a stellar weekend performance at the Southern Methodist University Classic. Siow’s showing landed her Big Ten Conference Swimmer of the Week honors.

As Wisconsin placed fourth in the team standings at the SMU Classic, Siow set a school record in the 200-yard breaststroke. Siow, a native of Malaysia, clocked a time of 2:11.59, which bettered the A-qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships. Siow also prevailed in the 200 and 400 individual medley events, touching the wall in 2:01.51 and 4:16.34, respectively.

Siow also contributed to Wisconsin’s 800 freestyle relay, which placed fourth. This weekend, she’ll represent the Badgers in dual-meet competition against Arizona and Penn State.
