Indiana’s Loukas Designated for Olympic Medal Program

BLOOMINGTON, Indiana, October 1. CHRISTINA Loukas, the reigning Big Ten Conference Diver of the Year, has been selected as one of 20 divers for the Olympic Medal Program. The OMP was designed by the Committee for Olympic Success and serves as a fast-tracking process for athletes chasing bids to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

"I am pleased that United States Diving recognizes Christina's ability and potential," Indiana head diving coach Dr. Jeff Huber said. "She has everything it takes to become an Olympian and Olympic medalist. This is just another step in her progression to reach her dreams."

Loukas and the rest of the Hoosiers open their season with the Cream vs. Crimson meet on Oct. 7 at 4 p.m., at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center, before starting the regular season at Auburn on Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m.
