Auburn Set to Begin Quest for Fourth Straight NCAA Men’s Championship

COLUMBIA, South Carolina, September 28. IN pursuit of its fourth consecutive NCAA championship on the men’s side, Auburn will host South Carolina Friday afternoon in dual-meet action. The women’s programs from the schools will also kick off the season. The meet is slated for 5:30 p.m. at the Martin Aquatics Center.

The Auburn men are expected to be in the mix for another national championship, thanks to the presence of George Bovell, Eric Shanteau and Doug Van Wie. As for the women, who won NCAA titles from 2002-04, they are led by Jeri Moss and Hayley Peirsol, both with international experience. The Auburn programs are coached by David Marsh, who recently was presented the Walter Gilbert Award, given to a former Auburn athlete who has excelled after graduation.
