University of Wisconsin at River Falls Swimming and Diving Begins Season

RIVER FALLS, Wisc., September 27. THE largest class of incoming freshmen in school history marks the beginning of the 2005-06 season for the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. Seventeen new swimmers join the returning group for what head coach Bill Henderson said will be a "much stronger team overall."

Leading the incoming group of women are Sara Cannady and Danielle Mandich out of Bloomington Jefferson H.S.; Stephanie Thayer, a member of the Sauk Rapids-Rice H.S. state champion 200 free relay; and Whitney Thompson, a versatile freestyler out of Concordia H.S. in Indiana.

For the men, Matt Banz and Andy Peltier from Eagan, Mike Brudzinski from Tartan H.S. and Kyle Moon of River Falls lead a strong group of new men to what will be the largest men's team at UWRF in more than ten years.

UWRF will also host the WIAC championships for the first time in school history and will do so at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Complex. The entire conference is excited about this move into one of the best facilities in the country.
