CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia, October 6. Zach Fong, a senior All-American and high school state champion at Moorestown High School in New Jersey, has pledged his services to the University of Virginia beginning next fall. He’s ranked 61st overall in the 2015 recruiting class and second in the state of New Jersey by Collegeswimming.com.

Fong, who trains under John Carroll at the Jersey Wahoos, is a highly versatile swimmer who should contribute in a handful of different events for the Cavaliers. Fong excels at the 200 fly (1:46.13), 100 breast (56.14), 200 breast (2:02.55), 400 IM (3:54.17), 200 IM (1:51.57) and 1650 free (15:37.39), among other events.

Several of those times are knocking on the door of making finals at the ACC Championships. Fong’s 200 fly personal best would’ve placed in the B final at last year’s meet and is under this year’s NCAA B cut by nearly two seconds.
