Yulia Banach Sets Israeli National Record

ASHDOT YAAKOV, Israel, February 23. AT the Israeli Winter Short Course National Championships, Yulia Banach shot down the national record in the 200 breaststroke.

Banach clocked a time of 2:26.38 to claim the record, while also nearly clearing her national record in the 100 breast with a time of 1:08.44 for the win.

Amit Ivri continued a strong winter season with three victories at nationals. She walked away triumphant in the 50 fly (26.29), 100 fly (58.49) and 100 free (55.65).

On the men's side, several notable swims occurred as well.

Yuri Smoilitch, 18, won the 100 free in 49.98 and the 200 free in 1:48.98. He also took second in the 100 back (55.20) and 200 back (1:58.60).

Yaakov Tomarkin, 17, claimed wins in the 200 back (1:58.38), 200 IM (2:04.09) and 400 IM (4:22.31), while Imri Ganiel, 17, captured the 100 breast (1:02.19) and 200 breast (2:14.72) as well as took second in the 50 breast (29.81).

Yoni Kopelev, 18, earned the 100 back win in 54.97, while Elad Mordechai, 18, snared the 50 fly (24.49) and 100 fly (55.14).
