YMCA Long Course Nationals: Emily Lloyd Doubles

COLLEGE PARK, Maryland, July 29. ANNE Arundel's Emily Lloyd claimed a pair of titles during the fourth evening of the YMCA Long Course Nationals held in College Park, Md.

Lloyd touched in 57.46 to win the women's 100 free, while Countryside's Breann McDowell tied with Western's Maddy Smart, 15, for second with matching 58.91s. Lloyd doubled with a 28.02 to win the women's 50 fly. Stevens Point's Becca Weiland took second in 28.22, while Anne Arundel's Kendall Farnham finished third in 28.77.

Elkins' Tim Squires topped the men's 100 free in 51.68. Auglaize Mercer's Josh Fleagle finished second in 52.07, while New Canaan's Jack Forese placed third in 53.32. Upper Main Line's Matthew Salig won the men's 50 fly in 25.43. Powel Crosley's Michael Murphy (25.74) and West Cook's Eric Hallman (26.03) rounded out the top three.

Middle Tyger's Caroline Fore snared the women's 400 IM title in 5:05.22, while West Shore's Madeline Hoch, 15, placed second in 5:06.17. Greater Flint's Courtney Weaver, 14, took third in 5:06.70. West North Carolina went 1-2 in the men's 400 IM with Nathan Hart winning in 4:35.50 and Bill Young taking second in 4:36.71. Montclair's Matt Navata wound up third in 4:38.44.

Cheshire's Justine Ress hit the wall in 2:18.34 in the women's 200 back, while Wilton's Shelby Fortin (2:20.31) and Countryside's Emily Slabe, 14, (2:20.88) completed the podium. Countryside's Steven Zimmerman snatched the men's 200 back in 2:04.13. Kishwaukee's Grant Alef (2:08.85) and Wilton's Adam Lebovitz (2:09.33) took second and third.

West Shore's Hoch, Carly Munchel, Claire Loht and Caroline Finkbeiner won the women's 800 free relay in 8:38.94, while Upper Main Line's Salig, Thomas Mershon, Matt Luminais and Nathan Reed clinched the men's 800 free relay title in 7:53.49, more than four seconds slower than the same quartet went with a 7:49.21 to set the YMCA record last year.
