For about 175 meters, Japan’s Yasuhiro Koseki chased countryman Akihiro Yamaguchi’s world record of 2:07.01 in the 200 breaststroke at the FINA world championships. Koseki’s 2:08.03 in the semifinals makes him the top seed for the finals.

A throng of Japanese journalists was waiting in the mixed zone in the Kazan Arena when Koseki arrived. The interview was conducted entirely in Japanese, and Swimming World recorded the interview in full for our Japanese-speaking audience to listen to Koseki’s comments.
