Yannick Kaser, Jeremy Desplanches Set Swiss Records

Yannick Kaser and Jeremy Desplanche both had a hand in setting Swiss records at the Swiss National Championships this week in Geneva.

Kaser just missed his Swiss record of 2:12.09 with a 2:12.33 to win the men’s 200-meter breast. That swim pushed him to ninth in the world rankings.

A day later, Kaser lowered Remo Lutolf’s Swiss record of 1:01.81 in the men’s 100-meter breast with a 1:01.67 in prelims. He then clipped that new mark with a 1:01.66 in finals.

Jeremy Desplanches posted the other Swiss record of the meet with a 4:19.01 in the men’s 400-meter IM.  That swim not only pushed him to ninth in the world, it downed his own mark of 4:20.27 set last month.

In other action, Nils Liess won the men’s 100-meter back in 56.04. Liess doubled up with a 2:00.07 to top the men’s 200-meter fly. Liess’ third title of the meet came by way of the men’s 200-meter back with a 2:02.26.

Maria Ugolkova also won three titles as she captured the women’s 100-meter back in 1:03.69. Ugolkova earned a second victory with a time of 56.41 in the women’s 100-meter free. Ugolkova tripled with a 59.78 in the women’s 100-meter fly.

Alexandre Haldemann moved to 10th in the world rankings with a time of 1:48.05 in the men’s 200-meter free.

Andrey Grechin threw down a 49.98 to win the men’s 100-meter free. Grechin swept the sprint frees with a 22.65 in the men’s 50-meter free.

Christoph Meier hit the wall in 15:58.52 to win the men’s 1500-meter free, while Marco Sidler took the men’s 800-meter free in 8:24.13.

Martina van Berkel claimed the women’s 400-meter free title in 4:18.86. Van Berkel then won the women’s 200-meter fly in 2:10.63.

Svenja Stoffel took home the women’s 50-meter fly crown in 27.09. She then doubled up with a 29.75 in the women’s 50-meter back.

Lisa Mamie earned the women’s 100-meter breast win in 1:11.68. Mamie picked up a second win in the women’s 200-meter IM with a 2:20.20.

Elisa Marani captured the women’s 800-meter free in 9:06.47, then won the women’s 1500-meter free in 17:30.16.

Meanwhile, Jean-Baptiste Febo won the men’s 400-meter free in 3:52.98, while Aleksi Schmid topped the men’s 50-meter fly in 24.69.

Martin Schweizer snared the men’s 50-meter breast title in 28.50, while Lukas Rauftlin topped the men’s 50-meter back in 26.35.

Donald Cameron snagged the men’s 200-meter IM in 2:05.41, while Nico Van Duijn won the men’s 100-meter fly in 53.35.

Sibylle Graenicher posted a 2:33.51 to win the women’s 200-meter breast, while Noemi Girardet topped the women’s 200-meter free in 2:01.23.

Lisa Stamm won the women’s 400-meter IM in 4:56.04, while Silvana Huber snagged the women’s 50-meter breast title in 32.73.

Fanny Borer won the women’s 200-meter back in 2:18.40, while Sasha Touretski put up a 26.00 to top the women’s 50-meter free.
