Xavier vs. Valparaiso

VALPARAISO, Indiana. October 17. BOTH the men's and women's swim teams tallied wins at Valparaiso during their dual meets versus the Crusaders. The teams won a combined 22 out of 30 events to pick up the wins. The men's team defeated Valpo by a margin of 94-51 while the women scored 82 points to Valpo's 56. Sophomores Nathan Green and Kari Peglar both won all three of their events for the Musketeers, including swimming the lead off of the 800 Free relay.

Mickey Hafertepe swam the first leg of the first-place finishing 200 Medley relay as the team touched with a time of 1:39.33. Individually, Hafertepe finished first in the 100 Back (54.20), 200 Back (1:59.63) and swam the second leg of the 800 Free relay as the team finished first in that event as well (7:18.59).

Senior Mary Catherine Mahon swam legs of both the 200 Medley (1:53.31) and the 800 Free (8:07.37) relays, both of which finished first. She also touched first in the 100 Back (1:01.80) and the 200 Back (2:14.31).
