Xavier vs. St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Missouri, November 3. BRAD Byars and Michael Dahle each finished first in three individual events to lead the Saint Louis men's swimming and diving team to a 160.50-130.50 win over Atlantic 10 foe Xavier at the Simon Recreation Center. The Billiken women's team tied the Musketeers 147-147.

Byars won the 200 free in 1:43.10, the third-fastest time in school history, and went on to capture first-place honors in the 50 (21.28) and 100 free (46.09). His times in the 50 and 100 free also rank among the top 10 performances at SLU.

Dahle won the 1000 free in 9:59.70 and the 500 free in 4:47.83. Both times were the ninth-best performances at Saint Louis. His 4:17.77 effort in the 400 IM was also good enough for first place at the dual, and eighth place in the SLU record books.

Kevin Parker also won a pair of events for the Bills. His 1:54.44 effort in the 200 back ranks eighth in school annals while he also clocked the third-fastest time in SLU history in the 100 back (52.10).

Jordan Hagar, Elena Ramirez and Lindsey Tamkun led the Billiken women's squad with two individual first-place finishes apiece. Hagar clocked a pair of top-10 times with a 24.86 race in the 50 free and a 54.08 in the 100 free. Ramirez won the 100 breast (1:07.60) and the 100 fly (58.84), and Tamkun won the 100 back in 59.87 and the 200 back in 2:08.65.

Though she didn't win the 500 free, SLU's Sarah Bennet did turn in the third-best performance in school history with a time of 5:11.03. With no Xavier divers competing, SLU also won all four diving events.
