Xavier Teams Both Win Over Valparaiso (M: 82-38; W: 80-42)

CINCINNATI, Ohio, October 19. THE Xavier men's and women's swimming team put forth a tremendous effort as they both picked up wins over their Valparaiso counterparts at the O'Conner Sports Center. The men defeated the Crusaders by a margin of 44 points, 82-38, while the women downed the Valpo women's team, 80-42.

"I was proud of the way the team swam, the women had another strong performance and the men did a nice job in the first meet of the year," said head swimming coach Steve Riegler following the meet.

Freshman Kari Peglar set another pool record, this time in the 100 Back with a time of 59.47. Sophomores Elaina Suba and Alison Johnson along with freshmen Ashley Sohngen and Sarah Weichelt also set a pool Friday in the 200 Free Relay.

Senior team captain Matt Krouse took first place in both the 100 Back and the 200 Back while freshman John Buckley came in first in both the 100 and 200 Breast.
