VALPARAISO, Indiana, October 24. RACHEL Majercik (Schaumburg, Ill./Conant H.S.) won the 100 freestyle for Valparaiso but Wright State ruined the Crusaders' dual meet and home opener on Saturday morning defeating the Brown and Gold 164-40 at the Athletics-Recreation Center pool.
Majercik posted a time of 54.76 seconds in the 100 free to cruise to victory by 1.28 seconds for the Brown and Gold.
Amy Andracki (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect H.S.) finished runner-up for the Crusaders in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.79, just .32 seconds off of the pace.
Laura Rickey (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville H.S.) placed third in the 200 free with a time of 2:02.69 and Jenny Nam (Orange, Calif./Lutheran H.S. of Orange County) placed third in the 100 backstroke with a mark of 1:05.57 for Valpo's other top-three finishes.
Valparaiso (0-1) will return to the water on November 14 in Cleveland, Ohio for a quadrangular meet. The Crusaders will face host Cleveland State along with Niagara and Saint Bonaventure beginning at 12 p.m. CST.
