World Short Course Championships: Cameron Van Der Burgh of South Africa Paces Qualifiers in 50 Breast Semis

MANCHESTER, England, April 12. CAMERON Van Der Burgh from South Africa checked in with the top qualifying time in the FINA Short Course World Championship semifinal heats for the 50 breaststroke.

Van Der Burgh's swim of 26.65 earned him a first-place berth over the world record holder in the event, Oleg Lisogor of Ukraine. Lisogor, the defending champion in the event, finished second in 26.71.

Alessandro Terrin from Italy clocked the third-fastest time (26.86). Robin Van Aggele from the Netherlands took fourth with a time of 26.89.

Gerhard Zandberg of South Africa (26.95), Damir Dugonjic of Slovakia (27.00), Mark Gangloff of the United States (27.07) and Alexander Dale Oen of Norway (27.20) rounded out the rest of the field that qualified for finals.
