World Championships: U.S. Women Steamroll China in Water Polo Action

MONTREAL, Canada, JULY 21. SCORING from 10 players carried the United States women to an 18-2 rout of China on Monday during the World Water Polo Championships. Kristina Kunkel led the American attack with four goals and Emily Feher and Jaime Hipp shared the goaltending duties. With the win, the USA advanced out of the preliminary round.

Ericka Lorenz, Lauren Wenger and Natalie Golda also added to the offensive fireworks for the U.S., which is scheduled to begin second-round competition on Saturday. As for the United States men, they will return to the water on Friday for a showdown with Serbia and Montenegro.

In other women's action from Thursday, Russia notched a 13-1 win over New Zealand and Hungary bested Spain, 8-5. Italy checked in with a 14-5 decision over Venezuela and Greece rolled over Uzbekistan, 14-4.
