Wolfgramm Siblings Dominate Utah Short Course AG Champs

BOUNTIFUL, Utah, March 11. AFTER four days of swimming, the Utah Swimming Age Group record books were rewritten with 14 individual and 3 relay records broken.

Zerin Wolfgramm, Race Swami (RACE), dominated the 10 & under boys competition with record-breaking performances in the 50 free (26.49), 100 free (58.33), 200 free (2:08.91), 50 back (29.44), 100 back (1:03.13), 50 fly (28.68), 100 fly (1:03.20).

In the 11/12 boys competition Alex Wood, Kearns Youth Aquatic Team (KYAT), broke breaststroke records he previously held in the 50 breast (29.95) and 100 breast (1:07.71). Trey Freeman, Cottonwood Heights Aquatic Team (CHAT), cleaned up the backstroke events with new records in the 100 back (57.19) and 200 back (2:04.40). On the 11/12 girls side, Anna Shum, Wasatch Front Fish Market (WFFM), set a new record in the 50 breast (31.56). Fanetupou Wolfgramm, RACE, had record-breaking performances in the 100 free (53.79) and 50 back (26.83).

The CHAT 11/12 boys relay team of (in medley relay order) Trey Freeman, Jack Binder, Quentin Tyler and Hunter McKenzie wiped the record books clean with dominating performances in the 200 free relay (1.43.26), 200 medley relay (1:55.22) and the 400 free relay (3:48.67).

The 10 & under girls competition was led by Sadie Edwards, South Davis Aquatic Team (SDAT), with wins in the 50 free (29.06), 100 free (1:03.72), 50 breast (36.63), 100 breast (1:19.25), 50 fly (31.57), 100 fly (1:10.78), and 100 IM (1:10.30). Valerie Kunzler, SDAT, controlled the backstroke events with wins in the 50 (35.62) and 100 (1:16.62). Caroline Luman, Swim Utah (UTES), won the 200 free (2:20.56) and 200 IM (2:35.76). Kennedy Callaway, WFFM, rounded out the field with a win in the 500 free (6:21.09).

Martin Anders, Devil Ray Aquatic Team (DRAT), had first-place finishes in the 50 breast (37.10), 100 breast (1:21.50) and 100 IM (1:09.94). Zerin Wolfgramm, RACE, delivered a first-place finish in the 200 IM (2:25.13). Evan VanBrocklin, CHAT, took first-place in the 500 free (6:10.25).

In the 11/12 girls competition Fanetupou Wolfgramm, RACE, prevailed with wins in the 50 free (24.88), 200 free (2:00.77), 100 back (59.23), 100 fly (1:00.73). Anna Shum, WFFM, had command wins in the 50 fly (27.00), 200 fly (2:18.91) and 400 IM (4:52.43). Lily Plaudis, KYAT, had wins in the 100 breast (1:09.68) and 200 breast (2:32.93). Catherine Hampton, CHAT, led the field in the 500 free (5:38.11) and 100 IM (1:04.50). Katie Hales, Park City Swimming (PCS), 200 back (2:11.78), and Rachel Butler, CHAT, 200 IM (2:19.20), completed the field of first place finishers.

Lucas Hess, PCS, had strong performances on the 11/12 boys side with wins in the 50 free (24.61), 100 free (52.74), 500 free (5:15.79), 50 fly (26.73), 100 fly (59.10), 200 fly (2:10.53) and 400 IM (4:40.02). Trey Freeman, CHAT, led the field in the 200 free (1:52.25), 50 back (27.61) and 200 IM (2:09.66). Jack Binder, CHAT, took control of the 200 breast (2:32.92) and 100 IM (1:01.50) events.

Rhyan White, WFFM, dominated the 13/14 girls field with impressive wins in the 50 free (25.69), 100 free (55.19), 200 free (2:00.44), 100 back (57.86), 200 back (2:09.75), 100 fly (1:00.55), and 200 fly (2:18.15). Milava Shumilova, PCS, took control of the 500 free (5:24.42), 1000 free (11:12.72), 200 IM (2:14.46), and 400 IM (4:43.40). Ava Binder, CHAT, dominated the breaststroke events with wins in the 100 (2:29.52) and 200 (2:29.52). Tina Crum, Dixie Aquatics Race Team (DRAT), took the distance crown with an 18:33.20 in the 1650 free.

On the 13/14 boys side, Chad Patterson, Wasatch County Swim Team (WCST), made an impressive showing with wins in the 200 free (1:51.79), 1000 free (10:30.10), 1650 free (17:30.96) and 100 fly (57.99). Benji Willmore, UTES, enjoyed wins in the 400 IM (4:32.29), 200 IM (2:08.53), 200 breast (2:23.41), and 200 fly (2:09.77). Adam Shelton, Eagle Aquatic Team (EAT), dominated the free sprints with wins in the 50 (23.21) and 100 (51.23). Cole Peterson, PCS, 100 back (59.08), Adam Edwards, Cache Valley Marlins (CVM), 200 back (2:04.56) and Spencer Dew, Hilltop Aquatic Swim Team (HAST), 100 breast (1:05.68), rounded out the first-place finishers.

Cottonwood Heights Aquatic Team won the team point competition with a combined boys/girls score of 2680. Wasatch Front Fish Market took second place with 2203 points and Hilltop Aquatic Swim Team came in third with 1732 points.
