Wisconsin-Milwaukee vs. Grand Valley State

ALLENDALE, Michigan, October 15. JUNIOR Brady Huemann and freshman Trevor Sisson each won twice to pave the way for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's swimming & diving team to a 193.5-106.5 victory over Grand Valley State University Friday evening. Huemann swept the breaststroke events and Sisson, the reigning Horizon League Diver of the Week, earned close victories on both boards as the Panthers won 12 out of 16 events on the night.

In addition, Milwaukee also received victories from senior Dan Heraly, juniors Jordan Diel and Sam Keele, sophomores Nathan Welchlin, Mike Schalla and David Dvorak and both relay teams.

"The men had a really good night overall," UWM head coach Kyle Clements said. "It was a long meet and for us to get right off a five-hour bus ride and compete like this all night really shows the team is moving in the right direction. Brady (Huemann) had a couple of really nice swims and Trevor (Sisson) continues to impress."

Huemann won the 100 breaststroke in 59.10 and then completed the sweep with a 2:09.20 showing in the 200. He also placed second in the 200 IM in a time of 2:00.33.

Sisson clipped junior teammate Shane Conner on the one-meter board, winning with 246.90 points to Conner's 242.40. On the three-meter, Sisson completed the night with a 254.25 point total to win by almost 14 points.

Heraly won the 500 freestyle in 4:47.48, Diel the 100 butterfly in a pool-record 50.79, Keele the 200 IM in 1:58.43 and Welchlin the 200 free in a pool-record 1:42.48. Diel also placed second in the 200 fly in 1:55.66, falling by less than 0.4 seconds.

Schalla, Dvorak and sophomore Caleb Sandvold led UWM to a 1-2-3 finish on both the 50 and 100 freestyle. Dvorak won the 50 in 21.38, out-touching Sandvold (21.44) and Schalla (21.70). In the 100, it was Schalla (47.44) topping Dvorak (47.95), followed by Sandvold (48.59).

The Panthers are right back at it tomorrow, taking on Valparaiso at 3 p.m. Saturday.
