Wisconsin-Green Bay vs. South Dakota State

BROOKINGS, South Dakota, November 5. A pair of pool records fell Friday night as the Green Bay men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept South Dakota State at the HPER Center Pool. The Phoenix women picked up a 135-108 victory, while the men's squad outlasted the Jackrabbits 122.5-120.5. Both sides improved to 2-1 in dual meets this season with the wins.

Green Bay divers Daniel Pogue (Chisholm, Minn.) and Kayla Deters (Sauk Rapids, Minn.) both set HPER Center Pool records on the 3-meter board Friday, as Pogue tallied a first-place score of 312.90 and Deters won with a score of 266.95. Both divers also took the 1-meter event, as Pogue recorded a winning total of 284.25 and Deters dove to a 256.35.

Junior Amy Burback (Waunakee, Wis.) and senior Katelyn Bodin (Maple Grove, Minn.) were also double-winners on Friday for the Phoenix women. Burback took the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.57) and the 200 breaststroke (2:24.19), while Bodin earned a victory in the 100 freestyle (54.34) and also helped Green Bay to a win in the 400 freestyle relay (3:36.24).

Other winners for the Phoenix women's team included junior Amber Bartholomew (Alexandria, Minn.) in the 200 individual medley (2:12.19) and freshman Kendra Rottier (Green Bay, Wis.) in the 200 butterfly (2:13.49).

Individual winners for the Green Bay men included senior Ryan Loy (New London, Wis.) in the 50 freestyle (21.82), senior Andrew Gelden (Kenosha, Wis.) in the 200 individual medley (1:59.24) and sophomore Tyler Evans (Lodi, Wis.) in the 100 freestyle (47.89).

The Green Bay men and women have a quick turnaround as they are back in action tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at South Dakota.
