Wisconsin Gets on Board With Five-Star Recruit Dana Grindall

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 10. THE Big Ten jumped into the fray today in Class of 2013 recruiting as Wisconsin claimed the services of five-star butterfly specialist Dana Grindall.

Grindall, who trains with SoNoCo Swim Club in Connecticut, already has quick times in the 100-meter (1:00.38) and 200-meter fly (2:15.63). She also already has an NCAA Division I B cut time of 54.09 in the 100-yard fly. She also competed at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships this summer, taking third in the 100-meter fly with a 1:00.77.

“I chose to be a Badger because I loved the program, Coach Hite's vision of the future matched the one of mine and I truly felt at home!” Grindall told Swimming World.

Grindall is the top ranked swimmer in the state of Connecticut according to CollegeSwimming.com, ahead of Madeline Rusch of New Canaan YMCA, who pledged to Duke. Grindall is ranked just outside the top 50 in the nation, coming in at 57th in the overall rankings.

Grindall also competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials this summer, taking 27th in the 100 fly with a 1:00.36, and 55th in the 200 fly with a 2:16.48.
