Will Hofstadter of the JCC Waves inked his National Letter of Intent to join the Northwestern University men’s swim team. The sprinter, who hails from University High School in Irvine, California, is set to make an immediate impact for the Wildcats.

Hofstadter’s 50-yard free time of 20.51 ranks third on NU’s 2014-2015 best times list. His 45.28 100-yard free is just outside Northwestern’s top five, but clearly he’ll be an asset in the sprint events and relays. He also provides a solid 100-yard breast time at 55.67. Just the slightest improvements on these times could score at next year’s Big Ten Championships.

Cal and Princeton were also on Hofstadter’s short list, but he ultimately chose Northwestern because of their academics

“I am excited for Will’s future at Northwestern,” says JCC Waves head coach Chris Duncan. “Surrounded by the excellent men’s team and coaching staff, he has unlimited opportunities.”

Northwestern finished ninth at Big Ten Championships last season and hope to improve with the addition of Hofstadter.
