NEW COMMIT: High school junior Paige Dressel of Oconomowoc, Wis. has announced her verbal commitment to West Virginia University as a member of the class of 2024. She will also join Abby Reardon in Morgantown next fall.

Primarily a backstroker, Dressel swims year-round with Elmbrook Swim Club and owns a pair of Winter Junior National standards. She most recently competed at the Wisconsin SCY Championships where she placed seventh in the 200 back and recorded four lifetime bests. This past summer, she finished 13th in the 200m back at Iowa City Speedo Sectionals before winning that event at the Wisconsin LCM Championships.

She told Swimming World:

“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to West Virginia University!! Thank you to everyone who has helped me get this far. Go Mountaineers!! #HailWV”

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 27.54
  • 100 back – 56.81
  • 200 back – 2:01.16
  • 50 free – 25.02
  • 100 free – 54.20

Dressel will add valuable backstroke depth to the Mountaineers’ roster when she arrives on campus at the start of the 2020-21 season as her best times already rank near the top of their lineup. She would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 back at the 2019 Big 12 Championships where West Virginia finished third overall in the team standings.
