West Chester Defeats Shippensburg (M:163-90; W:156-97)

SHIPPENSBURG, Pennsylvania, October 6. WEST Chester's swim teams swam to the win over Shippensburg. The men took the lead, 163-90, and the women ended it 156-97.

On the women's side, the medley relay team of Jackie Borkowski, Kate Jones, Erin Fischer and Megan Bauer set a pool record of 4 minutes, 2 seconds.

The Golden Rams (1-0) women finished first in each of the 15 events Saturday to fuel the win over the Raiders.

Borkowski also set a pool record in the 100 backstroke while winning all four of her events. An all-freshman relay of Jillian Murphy, Erin Fischer, Megan Bauer and Kristen Montello capped the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay.

The men's swimming team also was impressive with wins in every event, including a 1,2,3 sweep in the 400 medley relay.

Senior Marek Malopolski broke the Donnie Miller pool record in the 100 breaststroke with a 58.66-second time on the way to four wins.

The Golden Rams (1-0) looked very impressive in their season opener as West Chester prepares to defend its PSAC title from a year ago. The Rams also finished seventh at the NCAA Division II championships.
