Water Polo Player Chay Lapin Proposed on Live Television! Did She Say Yes?

LOS ANGELES, California, August 15. OLYMPIC water polo goalkeeper Chay Lapin has battled the utmost pressure from some of the world’s best players hurling balls at him through a successful career, but nothing could match the pressure he likely felt last night on the Bravo television series “Watch What Happens Live.”

Lapin, who played with Team USA last year at the Olympics, served as bartender on the live late-night show hosted by Bravo Television executive vice president of development and talent Andy Cohen. During the show, Cohen brought Lapin’s girlfriend, actress/model Kim Nelson, onto the stage from behind the cameras and immediately turned the show over to Lapin, who proposed to Nelson on live television. Her “yes” answer was met with cheers and applause in the studio.

Lapin and Nelson met at UCLA, where they were members of the school’s water polo teams. Nelson found more success than Lapin, as a member of three national championship teams. Lapin, who holds the UCLA school goalkeeping record with 719 saves, helped UCLA get to the championship round at the 2009 NCAA championships but couldn’t hold off crosstown rival USC.

Lapin competed in the 2012 Olympics, earning eight saves. The Americans finished eighth in the tournament.
