Yesterday marked the ribbon-cutting of the newly expanded and renovated Eugene B. Casey Swim Center, home of the Washington College men’s and women’s swim teams.

Thanks to a $1 million gift from the Eugene B. Casey Foundation, the swim center now features an addition housing team-specific lockerrooms and a team lounge. Enhancements were also made to the existing facility, including a complete overhaul of the front offices and lobby area.

Several swimming alumni were present at the ribbon-cutting, including Stacy Sines, Megan Morse, Chris Freisheim, Colin and Chris Soper, Rebecca Lee, Kathy Gerhart, Carolyn Myers, and Dave Kraft.

Washington College head coach Kim Lessard was also presented with her 2015 President’s Distinguished Service Award. Coach Lessard would have received the award at convocation in February, but was unable to attend as the swim teams were competing at the Centennial Conference Championships at the time.

Facility pictures will be available at a later date once final touches are made to the renovation.
