Waeger Named New Head Men’s and Women’s Coach at Slippery Rock

SLIPPERY ROCK, Penn, July 16. ANDREW Waeger has been named the new head men's and women's swimming coach at Slippery Rock University.

Waeger served as The Rock's graduate assistant during the 2002-2003 season. He will continue to pursue a master's degree in Sport Management at SRU.

Waeger succeeds Bob Ogoreuc, who recorded 101 wins in 24 seasons (12 each as men's and women's coach) before he retiring from coaching. Ogoreuc will remain a member of the Slippery Rock faculty.

Prior to joining The Rock staff, Waeger served one season as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Fairmont State College in West Virginia. Waeger has previously held the position of Head Coach for the Dublin Dolphins, Fairmont Aquatic Club and Bridgeport Swim Team. He has also spent a summer as a counselor/coach at the University of Texas Swimming Camp.

A former four-year letter-winner and team captain at Fairmont State, Waeger earned College Swim Coaches Association of America all-academic honors. He was a two-time West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/Bluegrass Mountain champion in the 200 breaststroke and 400 medley relay and was also a member of FSC's pool-record-setting 200 medley relay team.

Waeger currently holds an American Swimming Coaches Association Level 2:NCAA II certification, as well as teaching certificates in West Virginia and
Ohio.
