Viola Cady Krahn, Masters Hall of Fame Diver, Dies at 102

ORANGE, Calif., June 3. VIOLA Cady Krahn, a swimmer and diver who won 17 Masters world diving titles, died yesterday at the age of 102 on the eve of the 10th FINA World Masters Championships.

Krahn died at a convalescent home in Orange, California, after suffering a stroke two months ago.

Krahn began swimming and diving in 1919 after her family moved from Arizona to Los Angeles. She won junior national diving championships for three straight years beginning in 1922.

In 1923, Krahn married Fred Cady, then her swim coach at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Cady died in 1960 and a few years later Krahn moved to southern Orange County where she met her second husband Fred Krahn, who died in 1986.

Krahn was inducted into the International Masters Swimming Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in January after an 85-year swimming and diving career.
