Villanova Women Swim Past La Salle, Wagner; Men Fall to La Salle

VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania, October 20. THREE different members of the Villanova women's swimming and diving team picked up wins on Friday and AJ Mak won twice for the men in both teams' home opener.

The women's team defeated La Salle, 157-81 and Wagner, 155.5-70.5 while the men's team fell to La Salle, 156-86.

Leading the way for the women's team was Jenny Somerville, who picked up wins in the 1000 and 500 yard freestyle events. Kristina Lennox won both the 200 yard freestyle and the 200 yard butterfly, while Annie Kelley notched victories in the 200 yard IM and the 200 yard backstroke.

Also picking up wins for the Wildcat women's team were Jesse Radtke (50 yard freestyle), Marlee Morden (100 yard freestyle) and Lindsay Davis (1 meter diving). The 400 yard medley relay team swept the top to spots for the Wildcats as well.

On the men's side, Mak was the leader, posting wins in the 1000 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle events. Also picking up victories for the men were Jon Spindler in the 200 yard butterfly and Brett Karbach in the 200 yard freestyle.
