Turkey’s Viktoria Zeynep Gunes put herself in position for another meet record as she paced the women’s 100-meter breast semis at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.

Gunes lead the way in semis with a 1:06.90, just off Ruta Meilutyte’s meet record of 1:06.61 set back in 2013.

With that swim, Gunes became just the fifth 18-and-under to clear 1:07 this year, bettering the 1:07.60 season best she had at Worlds.

Gunes is clearly the favorite heading into finals with Russia’s Mariia Astashkina qualifying a distant second in 1:08.30.

Sweden’s Sophie Hansson (1:08.34), Great Britain’s Katie Matts (1:08.39), Japan’s Runa Imai (1:08.69), Italy’s Giulia Verona (1:08.97), Japan’s Yukino Miyasaka (1:09.24) and Russia’s Daria Chikunova (1:09.27) also made their way into the finale.
