CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, May 16. ALTHOUGH most of the conversations with Tyler Clary either lead towards finally winning Olympic gold in 2012, or his burgeoning race-car driving career, he has a fun anecdote about his introduction to swimming in this interview.

Clary still manages to talk about his friendship with Jimmie Johnson, as well as SwimMAC’s $6 million capital campaign, but one small gold nugget in the interview is how his mother had a plan for him to learn to swim as part of a life-saving strategy for his brother on the river. Check it out.
