MESA, Arizona, April 25. RYAN Murphy could have skipped the Arena Grand Prix in Mesa, Ariz., using the time instead to make the adjustment to long course meters after a long college season, but he says in this video interview that he needed to get into long course racing right away, and this meet was a good opportunity.

He talked about getting right back into hard training and how teammate Jacob Pebley is helping him stay motivated through the hard sets. He also discusses what he calls subpar underwater work in his backstroke events at the NCAAs that was nullified by his superior “above the water” swimming, something that will come in handy in long course racing.
