Video Interview: One Year Later, Joshua Daniel Finds Redemption at Easterns

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, February 22. AFTER placing second in the 50-yard freestyle last year, Peddie’s Joshua Daniel vowed to be the swimmer with the “1” next to his name at the 2014 Eastern Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championships. After a year of hard training and mental preparation, that goal was realized on Friday evening when he posted a 21.12 for the win.

In this interview with SwimmingWorld.TV, Daniel talks about the year of training he’s put in with fellow Peddie champion Patrick Park. Improved underwater kicking on the start and turns was just one thing that helped him win the 50 free, and he talks about the team support he’s received that also helped push him to the win.

It wasn’t a perfect race, Daniel said, noting he had hoped to break 21 seconds in the event. But he’s ready now to race for the title in the 100 free in today’s competition, putting forth a lofty goal in that event.
