Georgia’s Olivia Smoliga and Hali Flickinger sat down with Swimming World’s David Rieder after Georgia’s exciting win to discuss their emotions throughout the meet. The two point to the excitement of the roller coaster weekend, and the knowledge that things needed to go perfectly for them to win. Flickinger calls the win a total team effort, and explains that certain girls stepping up who weren’t supposed to score was what made the difference. Smoliga discusses the road from a disappointing loss at SEC’s to this emotional win. The women also discuss how much their coach Jack Bauerle means to them, and the excitement of moving forward toward Trials.
