IRVINE, California, August 9. MICHAEL Phelps has said numerous times in his career that he hates to lose, and he makes it clear in this video interview after the 100 backstroke that he was not happy finishing sixth in the final at the USA Swimming nationals.

Phelps knows he has not put the work in to be at the level he knows he can be at this meet, and he even began hinting that he’s in the sport through 2016, saying “little small things like this that end up making me feel how I feel end up playing a big role in what’s really going to happen over the next couple of years.”
