Matt McLean made an appearance at U.S. Nationals in San Antonio on behalf of his sponsor, Arena, and before he left, he took a few minutes to speak exclusively with Swimming World’s David Rieder. McLean also spoke about his training situation at the University of South Carolina, where he still swims with longtime coach Mark Bernardino. He shared his thoughts on a pair of his Egyptian training partners competing at the World Championships, Akram Ahmed and Marwan El-Kamash, and he also discussed his reaction to Team USA’s disappointing showing in Kazan.
